In addition to being a three-time Billboard chart topper, versatile flutist Kim Scott has that mega Renaissance woman thing going full-tilt, excelling at everything from being host of the syndicated “Kim Scott’s Block Party Radio” to being a flute professor at the Alabama School of Fine Arts and giving clinics and master classes in the U.S. and internationally. Closing in on 15 years as a Smooth Jazz artist, she vibes with co-writer and producer Greg Manning on her latest single “Freedom” to bring an exotic, rhythmically amapiano sensibility to the energy behind her percussive flute melody. Scott conveys a sense of creative and spiritual liberation via the classic South African elements of deep house grooves, soul vibes, kwaito (African house) and log drum basslines.
